Information

Biological age

This health check includes an analysis of your biological age. Biological age is a measure of how your body ages at the cellular level compared to your chronological age. Comparing your blood counts with advanced algorithms will give you a deeper insight into your overall health status and how your lifestyle affects your biological aging. Based on the PhenoAge method. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC5940111/

Medical comment included

With us, you will always receive a doctor’s opinion from a licensed physician when you order a medical check-up that includes a medical opinion. The doctor’s opinion includes an overall assessment of your results from laboratory analysis. The opinion is individual and may vary depending on the specific tests your medical check-up includes.

What can I expect in the medical report?

The medical opinion will summarize the results of your test results to give you an assessment of your health including any abnormalities outside the reference ranges. In case of abnormalities or need, your doctor may also contact you for a free conversation to explain and talk about your results. Remember that a health check always includes specific test results based on your health and your personal circumstances. Values outside the reference range should therefore always be discussed with a doctor before any decisions regarding possible treatment are made.

What does the doctor look at during a health check?

When assessing a blood test or health check, your doctor will look at several different parameters to evaluate your health and identify any abnormalities. Below are some common aspects your doctor may examine:

Blood counts: Your doctor will check red, white and platelet counts to identify any signs of anaemia, infection or bleeding.

Nutrients and biochemical markers: Includes, for example, analysis and monitoring of blood sugar (glucose) levels, electrolyte levels (e.g. sodium, potassium), liver function tests (e.g. liver enzymes), kidney function tests (e.g. creatinine, urea) and lipid profile (e.g. cholesterol, triglycerides). The results of the tests give your doctor a better idea of your organ function, blood sugar level, cholesterol conditions and other important health aspects.

Inflammatory markers: Your doctor may measure health markers such as C-reactive protein (CRP) or red blood cell decrease rate (SR) to evaluate inflammatory conditions or confirm an active infection.

Hormone levels: Your doctor may monitor your hormone levels to assess hormonal imbalances or diseases, such as thyroid hormones (TSH, T3, T4), sex hormones or other specific hormones such as testosterone levels.

Specific tests: Depending on your goal of your health check or medical history, your doctor may look into specific tests to investigate conditions or diseases, such as diabetes, vitamin deficiency or autoimmune diseases.

In conclusion, the doctor weighs all test results based on the health check to assess your overall health, detect any abnormalities and identify possible underlying medical conditions.

What happens if I have abnormal test results?

If your blood count is abnormal, this will be addressed in your personal medical opinion. Depending on the nature and extent of the abnormality, your doctor may also contact you directly through the test result service for further guidance. Various measures and advice will be provided based on the specific abnormalities observed along with your medical history.

Premium Health Check – Our Most Comprehensive Blood Test Package

After carefully reviewing the options available on the market, we believe this is one of the most comprehensive blood test packages in Europe. While many providers offer health checks covering between 50 and 70 biomarkers, we have chosen to take things a step further. Our Premium Health Check analyses 82 health biomarkers and includes a biological age assessment, providing an exceptional breadth and depth of health insights in a single package. These 82 biomarkers offer a comprehensive overview of your health, covering everything from cardiovascular health and metabolism to vitamins, minerals, liver and kidney function, and hormonal balance. Alongside our extensive range of laboratory analyses, we offer blood sampling at numerous collection centres across Sweden. This combination of comprehensive testing and nationwide accessibility makes our Premium Health Check a distinctive option, not only in Sweden but also in the wider European market.

This health check is designed for those who want to go beyond a standard health screening and gain as much relevant information as possible about their body's functions and overall health. The package also includes an extensive hormone profile, a biological age assessment, digital test results, and a written medical evaluation from a licensed physician.

Why Choose Premium?

Our Premium Health Check is designed for those who want more than a standard health screening and are looking for the most comprehensive picture of their health possible. If you are already having blood drawn, why not take the opportunity to investigate as much as possible? With 82 health biomarkers, this is our most extensive health check, covering everything from heart, liver, and kidney health to hormones, vitamins, minerals, and metabolism.

Rather than focusing solely on the most commonly tested biomarkers, you receive a broader assessment of your body's functions. This can help identify potential abnormalities, improve your understanding of your blood test results, and establish a valuable baseline for monitoring changes in your health over time.

In addition to your laboratory results, the package includes a biological age assessment and a personalised written medical evaluation. If you have any questions or concerns after receiving your results, you are more than welcome to call us and discuss them with one of our physicians.

Simply put, Premium Health Check is for those who want to go one step further and gain as much information as possible from their health screening.

What Is Included in Premium Health Check?

You receive an analysis of 82 biomarkers, digital laboratory results, a biological age assessment, and a written medical evaluation. The testing covers several key areas of health, including complete blood count, iron stores, blood glucose, insulin, blood lipids, inflammation, organ function, vitamins, minerals, and hormones. The extensive hormone profile includes biomarkers relevant to both women and men.

A biological age assessment is also included. Biological age is an estimated measure of how your body is functioning in relation to your chronological age, based on several biomarkers that may be influenced by factors such as lifestyle, metabolism, and organ function.

This estimate is neither an exact measurement of age nor a medical diagnosis. However, it can provide a valuable additional perspective on your health and may be used to monitor and evaluate changes over time.

Who Is Premium Health Check For?

Premium Health Check is suitable for anyone who wants to gain a deeper understanding of their health. It may be particularly relevant if you:

  • Want a highly comprehensive overview of your current health.
  • Want to identify potential deficiencies or imbalances.
  • Experience fatigue, low energy, low mood, or difficulty concentrating.
  • Want to investigate hormonal changes.
  • Want to monitor your biomarkers regularly, for example, once every two years.
  • Want to use measurable health data to guide changes in diet, exercise, or lifestyle.
  • Have a family history of conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, or thyroid disorders.

What Can These Blood Tests Reveal?

This comprehensive panel of blood tests can provide valuable information about several important aspects of your health. By analysing biomarkers related to your complete blood count, iron stores, blood glucose, insulin, blood lipids, thyroid function, inflammation, and liver and kidney function, you can gain a clearer understanding of whether any results fall outside the laboratory's reference ranges and may require further investigation. The tests can also provide information about vitamin and mineral status, immune function, pancreatic function, and female and male sex hormones. An abnormal test result does not automatically mean that you have a medical condition, but it may indicate a need for further assessment or follow-up.

What Do We Analyse?

Complete Blood Count

A complete blood count (CBC) provides information about the different types of blood cells and may reveal signs of anaemia, infection, or other abnormalities in the blood cell profile.

Iron Status

Iron studies provide information about the body's iron stores and can help identify low or elevated iron levels.

Iron testing may be particularly relevant if you experience fatigue, low energy, have previously had low iron levels, or experience heavy menstrual bleeding. Results can be influenced by factors such as inflammation, diet, menstruation, and ongoing illness.

Blood Glucose, Diabetes Risk and Metabolic Health

The included biomarkers provide information about blood glucose regulation, insulin production, and metabolic function.

The results may identify abnormalities associated with impaired glucose regulation, prediabetes, or type 2 diabetes. Changes in blood glucose regulation can sometimes develop without noticeable symptoms, making blood testing useful for identifying abnormal levels and monitoring them over time.

Cardiovascular Health

Blood lipids are analysed because elevated or imbalanced lipid levels are recognised risk factors for cardiovascular disease. Abnormal results may require follow-up through lifestyle modifications or further medical assessment.

Thyroid Function

Thyroid biomarkers are used to assess thyroid function and may provide information about certain autoimmune thyroid conditions. Abnormalities can sometimes be associated with symptoms such as fatigue, sensitivity to cold, palpitations, low mood, weight changes, or menstrual irregularities.

Hormones

Premium Health Check includes an extensive hormone profile with more than 10 biomarkers relevant to hormonal health. Hormone levels must be interpreted in the context of factors such as age, sex, symptoms, menstrual cycle, and cycle day when applicable. Hormonal contraceptives, hormone replacement therapy, pregnancy, menopause, and certain medications can also influence the results.

Liver Function

Liver biomarkers provide information about liver health and can indicate whether liver-related test results fall outside the laboratory's reference ranges.

Elevated liver enzyme levels can have several possible causes and should be interpreted alongside other laboratory results, symptoms, medications, dietary habits, alcohol consumption, and the information provided in your health questionnaire.

Kidney Function

These biomarkers provide information about how effectively your kidneys filter blood and regulate various substances in the body. Abnormal kidney function results may require further investigation and should be assessed in the context of your other laboratory results and overall health.

Pancreatic Function

These tests provide information about pancreatic function.

Abnormal results can have several possible causes and should be evaluated alongside any symptoms and other laboratory findings. If you experience severe or sudden abdominal pain, seek medical attention immediately.

Vitamins and Minerals

Vitamin and mineral testing can help determine whether levels in your body are within, below, or above the laboratory's reference ranges. Abnormal levels may affect energy metabolism, concentration, immune function, muscle function, and bone health.

Electrolytes and Fluid Balance

Electrolytes play an essential role in nervous system function, muscle activity, and fluid regulation. Their levels can be affected by factors such as dehydration, medications, diet, and illness.

Inflammation and Immune Function

These biomarkers can provide information about inflammation and immune function. Elevated levels may be associated with infections or inflammatory conditions.

Hormonal Changes and Fatigue

Fatigue, low energy, low mood, difficulty concentrating, and sensitivity to cold are common symptoms that can have many different causes. They may be associated with iron deficiency, vitamin deficiencies, thyroid disorders, insufficient sleep, stress, metabolic changes, or hormonal fluctuations. The results may be particularly valuable if you are experiencing new or recurring fatigue, changes in energy levels, or symptoms that coincide with hormonal changes.

How Much Blood Is Required for 82 Biomarkers?

Because Premium Health Check includes a large number of laboratory analyses, the healthcare professional collecting your blood may need to fill approximately eight blood collection tubes. While this may sound like a lot, the total amount of blood collected is small compared with the body's total blood volume and is generally safe for healthy adults.

Multiple biomarkers can be analysed from the same blood sample, so a separate blood draw is not required for each individual marker. The exact amount of blood collected may vary depending on the collection tubes and laboratory methods used at your chosen sampling centre.

Most people experience no noticeable effects after blood collection. However, some may feel temporarily dizzy or weak, particularly when fasting is required before the test. It may therefore be helpful to remain seated for a few minutes afterwards and bring something to eat and drink once your blood sample has been collected.

A small bruise or some tenderness may also develop at the needle insertion site. Please inform the healthcare professional if you have previously felt faint during blood tests or feel anxious about having blood drawn.

Laboratory Analysis Exclusively by Synlab and Unilabs

Please note: All samples are analysed by an accredited laboratory. When ordering Premium Health Check, your samples will be analysed by either Unilabs or Synlab. You can choose your preferred blood collection centre after placing your order.

A complete blood count (CBC) provides an overview of the composition of the blood and can indicate anemia, infection, or other abnormalities. Blood tests measure levels of red and white blood cells and platelets, which provide important information about oxygen transport, immune defense, and the blood's ability to clot.
