CRP test measures the amount of the protein called C-reactive protein (CRP) in the blood. C-reactive protein is produced in the liver as a natural response of the body's defense against attacks by infections and injuries. CRP levels can be greatly increased in your blood during an acute inflammation that may have been caused by autoimmune diseases, surgery, injury or an infection.

What can a CRP test show?

A CRP test can provide several insights into possible inflammation and infection:

It usually takes 1-5 working days to get your test results, these are sent to you continuously as the analysis is done. The doctors comment will appear in the final report when all test results have been received, provided it is included in your analysis.
