ALAT, Alanine aminotransferase, is an enzyme found, among other things, inside the cells of the liver. In an inflamed or irritated liver, ALT can leak into the blood.
It is relatively common to have high liver values as an adult, where ALT is one, without having symptoms. Most times, elevated ALT levels are temporary and resolve on their own unless it is due to an underlying cause of a serious illness.
This is how it works: The test is a blood test that is carried out at the selected sampling unit.
Sample response: You normally have a response within 6 banking days after taking the sample. The test answer is sent digitally to your e-mail. Together with your test results, you will receive a report in Swedish about your values and the doctor's comment.
Remember: Bring valid identification with you when taking the sample.
ALT, alanine aminotransferase, and AST, aspartate aminotransferase, are two enzymes found, among other things, inside the cells of the liver. These can leak into the blood if the liver is irritated or inflamed, which gives elevated values. The test can be done if liver cell damage is suspected and during follow-up of chronic liver disease.
ASAT and ALT are two markers that measure liver values together with ALP, alkaline phosphatases, and GT, gamma-glutamyltransferase, these are included in our packages Stor Hälsokontroll Man and Stor Hälsokontroll Kvinna.
The sampling is performed by experienced staff at one of our clinics in Stockholm and Gothenburg. Test results and (including any travel certificate) are sent digitally via e-mail.
We will always send you the test result within the same day.
