Information

About vitamins and minerals

For you and your body to feel good, important vitamins and minerals are needed. As the body cannot produce minerals by itself, it is very important that you get them through the diet. If there is a lack of minerals, this can often cause specific disease symptoms, while it can be harmful to ingest too large amounts. However, it is difficult to reach too high amounts through your dietary intake from food, but if you take food supplements, it can happen through that.

Vitamins are necessary for the body's metabolism, it is therefore important to get vitamins through the diet as the body itself cannot produce these in sufficient quantity. A few vitamins can be formed in the body, such as Vitamin D, which is formed in the skin during sun exposure. If you eat a versatile diet that covers your energy needs, you should get enough vitamins and minerals, but not Vitamin D and iron.

Symptoms of vitamin or mineral deficiency

If you have a vitamin or mineral deficiency, you can get deficiency diseases as a result, examples of symptoms that can occur with deficiency diseases are:

  • ✓ Fatigue
  • ✓ Energyless
  • ✓ Depressed mood
  • ✓ Impaired wound healing
  • ✓ Muscle weakness
  • ✓ Cramps

Health markers vitamins and minerals

In this vitamin and mineral test, we measure the following health markers:
  • ✓ Ferritin
  • ✓ Folate
  • ✓ Vitamin D
  • ✓ Vitamin B12
  • ✓ Iron
  • ✓ Homocysteine
  • ✓ Magnesium
  • ✓ Zinc

Health markers blood status

In this test we also measure your blood status with the following markers:

  • EPK – Erythrocytes: red blood cells that are needed to transport oxygen in the body.
  • Hb – Hemoglobin: is a protein found in the red blood cells. Hemoglobin is needed for the blood to transport oxygen from the lungs to the body's organs.
  • EVF – Hematocrit: blood cell volume, the sum of the volume of all red blood cells.
  • MCH – Hemoglobin mass: Measure of the average amount of hemoglobin in the red blood cells.
  • MCV – Mean Cell Volume: gives a measure of the average red blood cell volume.
  • TPK – Platelets: regulates blood coagulation in the body during bleeding. The platelets are also part of the immune system together with the white blood cells in the case of bacteria.
  • LPK – Leukocytes: white blood cells which are cells in the blood, are part of the body's immune system to protect the body against infectious diseases.

A blood status analysis does the following things, among other things: measures the amount of oxygen-carrying hemoglobin in the blood, evaluates the number of platelets in the blood, calculates what percentage of the blood consists of red blood cells, evaluates how the red blood cells look and function, and screens for inflammation and infections that affect the white blood cells.
