HDL-cholesterol is a lipoprotein and is also usually called the "good" cholesterol. HDL-cholesterol takes excess cholesterol back to the liver where it is burned, which results in reduced fat deposits in the blood vessels.

HDL cholesterol is a risk marker for cardiovascular disease. By measuring HDL cholesterol, you gain insight into your values.

This is how it works: The test is a blood test that is carried out at the selected sampling unit.

Sample response: You normally have a response within 6 banking days after taking the sample. The test answer is sent digitally to your e-mail. Together with your test results, you will receive a report in Swedish about your values and the doctor's comment.

HDL cholesterol – the “good” cholesterol

HDL-cholesterol is a lipoprotein that is also usually called the "good" cholesterol. This is because HDL cholesterol has anti-inflammatory properties as well as the task of transporting cholesterol that is not needed to the liver for burning. This reduces the risk of cardiovascular diseases.

A combination with many LDL particles and few HDL particles in the blood is linked to a higher risk of cardiovascular disease.
